At WSCS,
athletics is more than competition between two teams of individuals
representing different schools; it is an educational experience between the
coach and the team through practice, competition, and person-to-person
relationships. Participation in athletics contributes to character development,
sportsmanship and the development of God-given talents and abilities. We expect
our athletes and coaches to work hard, enjoy the sport and respect each other
and their opponents, all in a Christ-honoring manner.
WSCS requires all
students to participate in physical education. Classes are created to emphasize
personal physical fitness and the development of fundamental abilities needed
for participation in sports and the maintenance of lifetime fitness.
Intramural basketball and soccer are available for elementary students beginning
in fourth grade. Secondary students have the opportunity to participate
in interscholastic competition in soccer and basketball. WSCS is a
long-standing member of the Independent Athletic Conference (IAC) and has won
numerous championships through the years.
